This research aims at studying cross-cultural differences in management. There are areas in management whereby differences towards attitudes, behaviours, functioning, communication issues and cultural implications can be seen. Cross-cultural differences stem from the different backgrounds of each culture. Cultural varieties fundamental in a culture. The same is true of business, because economic survival is at stake. Business practices are shaped by deeply-held cultural attitudes toward work, power, trust, wealth—and communication. Communication is fundamental in business, because business is a collaborative activity.

What is Cross-Cultural Communication? Definition of Cross-Cultural Communication: A field of study that looks at how people from differing cultural backgrounds communicate, in similar and different ways among themselves, and how they endeavor to communicate across cultures. Intercultural communication is a related field of study. In today’s global business world, cross cultural communication is the key to do business internationally. Some cultural traits important to transacting business in Africa are time, religion, handshakes, communication tactics and respect towards seniors. A company that understands the importance of cross-cultural communication has advantages in launching its business globally over a company that has not invested in it. Effective Leadership these differences can cause difficulties and conflicts in business relations with partners from other cultures. The challenge of relations between different cul-tures is particularly acute in business communication: about one third of all inter-national projects suffer to a considerable extent precisely from a lack of cultural awareness.
